Governance & Repository Policies
Standards for archival, access, academic integrity, and scholarly preservation.
Submission Workflow
All theses and dissertations submitted to the Bugema University repository must undergo a rigorous approval process. Students are required to submit their final, faculty-approved copy through their respective department heads.
Submissions must include comprehensive metadata, including supervisor details and examiners, to ensure the scholarly record is complete and citable.
Embargo & Access Control
While Bugema University promotes Open Access, we recognize that certain research requires temporary restriction. Authors may request an embargo period (typically 6, 12, or 24 months) for reasons involving patent protection, publisher requirements, or sensitive data.
During the embargo period, only the metadata (Title, Author, Abstract) is visible. The full-text PDF is restricted until the embargo expires.
Academic Integrity
The repository strictly adheres to Bugema University's plagiarism policy. Every submission is archived alongside its similarity report. Items found to violate academic integrity standards will be permanently withdrawn from the public archive.
Open Access & Licensing
Unless Otherwise specified, items are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs (CC BY-NC-ND) license. This allows others to download your works and share them with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.
Digital Preservation
We are committed to the long-term preservation of institutional output. The repository uses persistent identifiers (Handles/DOIs) to ensure that citations remain stable and active even as web structures evolve.
